About Milestones

Milestones brings hope and help to families with children of all ages who have unique sensory, speech, social-emotional or physical needs, strengthening the family’s connection with their child and increasing moments of joy as the child succeeds in developing to his or her fullest potential. Empowering and supporting the family is a central focus in everything we do.

History

Milestones was founded as a pediatric therapy center in 2002 by Janet Puderbaugh, MS, OTR/L, an occupational therapist with over 20 years of experience at the time. Janet’s broad-based pediatric experience includes direct care, management, program development, and teaching experience across multiple practice settings. Her philosophy is family-oriented and she has devoted her career to meeting the needs of each child and family served.

The Milestones practice continues to grow and evolve. Milestones’ professionals are highly trained in pediatric interventions including physical therapy, speech/language therapy, all types of occupational therapies, feeding therapy, sound-based interventions and, our newest, family support and counseling through our licensed clinical social workers.

Recently Remodeled Facility

Milestones therapy center is at 2901 Finley Road Suite 101, Downers Grove, Illinois in Chicago’s western suburbs. The entire facility of over 5,600 square feet is designed to provide customized care and be an inviting, nurturing environment for children and their families. A complete renovation was undertaken in 2018.

Treatment areas include four state-of-the-art gyms, an arts and crafts area that allows for fine motor and sensory activities using a wide array of media, a quiet/low-stimulation area, a game room for fine motor skill development, a room devoted to feeding activities, three speech and language treatment rooms and an assessment area. Our siblings’ room is filled with activities, and our one-way windows in each treatment area allow parents to observe sessions discreetly.

Tours are available and encouraged for families interested in Milestones. Please contact us to plan a visit soon.
